Under the Weather

I've been under the weather for the last few days with a stinker of a cold.
My head ached, my chest hurt from all the coughing and, as for the runny nose, I probably used enough tissues to fell a small forest. You'd probably have preferred not to know that.

Yesterday afternoon, Harry phoned me to remind me to put some Champagne in the fridge to celebrate the end of his nine days' run of work. It had to be pink Champagne, he had some colour matching to do. I protested that I wasn't well but he said that would make it easier for him, I'd be too weak to struggle. He loves to tease.

I was ready and waiting for him when he came upstairs, with the fizz and two glasses in hand. He had me lay across his lap on the bed, my favourite position, and the fun began.
Harry couldn't cure my cold but he knew just how to lift my spirits.

I'm feeling much better today; the combination of a warm bottom, chilled Champagne and a loving man was a great pick me up. We had a sweet reconnection of a different kind this afternoon.

Harry's taking a couple of extra days off over the Easter break. Fingers crossed that he doesn't catch my cold.

    1. It certainly took my mind off it for a while Meredith. Harry has no symptoms yet so we're hoping he'll stay fit. We're planning a drawbridge day or two.

  2. Even if he didn't cure you, he gave you some nice 'I don't care' for a while. Sounds like a good treatment, maybe I'll try it for my next cold.

    1. Thanks for the healing energy and positive thoughts, Cat. We're cautiously optimistic Harry won't come down with it but I'm still crossing my fingers.

    1. Hi DF,
Harry's ministrations made me feel a lot better, perhaps he should patent his cure. On one of my worst days, I took to my bed for the afternoon and read The Stolen Bride. I think readers should be advised to keep a fan handy, those sexy scenes are HOT!

  7. Maybe Harry has found a way to make the common cold's duration shorter than the required 2 weeks! Happy to hear he is back....and that spanking and loving has not been deterred.

    1. Hi Ella, pink Champagne and a firm hand made me feel better than anything from a pharmacy could. It's my belief that afternoons are one of the compensations for having an empty nest ;)

  9. I hope he doesn't either. I've recently shared mine with Ray. So glad he didn't listen to your lament about not feeling well - as you sound that way too.

    1. A rotten cold's not something you want to share with your beloved; I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. I was definitely a willing partner in the colour matching event, Harry reads me well - sometimes too well!

  13. Rosie:
I am just now r-connecting or connecting with new bloggers since I went silent in 2015. I found you here and enjoyed your post. Hope your starting to feel much better and I will keep my fingers crossed that Harry stays well so you can have a wonderful Easter. Despite being sick, Champagne and time over Harry's lap can certainly make you forget about your cold for a little while any way. Now maybe your red bottom matches your red nose!!
